An adventure from Berlin to Spreewald for a sunny day of paddling, just as the leaves had started to turn orange as we prepared for Autumn.
Tour du Mont Blanc: Impressions on 35mm
In July 2022 I completed a 150km, 11 day trek through France, Italy and Switzerland. In addition to my (new) digital camera, I decided to take with me my little Olympus Mju I and several rolls of Kodak Portra 400.
Berlin Cherry Blossoms on 35mm
After returning from Australia back to Berlin, we arrived just at the tail end of the Cherry Blossom season. I was determined to get some film photos of the cherry blossoms, but we’d had mostly cloudy weather for a week straight. On the only sunny day of the week, and luckily a day with a visible crescent moon, I took a train out to Kirschbaumallee to photograph the cherry blossom alleyway.
Skiing in the French Alps
For my birthday in January 2022 a group of us went skiing in the French alps. I had not skii’d since 10 years, so it was pretty wild to learn again as an adult. I took my little Olympus with me on the slopes as a larger camera would definitely get damaged from the amount of times I fell over. Loved the results of the retro pops of colour on the white landscape.
The Alps on 35mm
I joined a photography tour in September 2021 to travel the alps, bringing along my little Olympus Mju 1 to accompany the digital camera. My aim was to take some more candid, in between shots and rely on the digital for the bigger experimental shots.
Layers of the Dolomites
I’d never been to the dolomites, or barely into many areas of the alps. I’d heard so many great things but 2020, being the year that it was, didn’t allow me to travel there.
This particular morning is one that I will never forget, solidified in my mind and starting an intense love for this place and drive to return. Below is a photo essay of this morning, shot on both digital and film.
Mallorca Magic
In June 2021 myself and 4 mates made the classic German pilgrimage and spent a week on the glorious island of Mallorca, Spain.
Snowy Berlin on 35mm
Amongst the dark winter days were some really lovely days full of laughter and light. Those were the days it snowed. The sound of children and families laughing, playing in the park, people skating on the canals. For a short while, it almost felt like we weren’t in the middle of a pandemic lockdown. The following is an assortment of my favourite film photos from our neighbourhood walks.
A weekend in Hamburg on 35mm
During the few months of 2020 that we were allowed to travel, my friends and I rented an AirBnB just outside of Hamburg in northern Germany. None of us had explored the region before, and loved visiting a few small towns and of course - Hamburg itself. I took my Canon A1 and snapped a number of film photos.
Blue Mountains & Mt Kosciuszko
Over the 2018/19 new years break, we road tripped down to the Blue Mountains and Mt Kosciuszko. It made for a fantastic, picturesque little holiday before we went back to our offices.
